Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced chee nay T-sang) is a hands-on technique that combines abdominal massage, acupressure, and guided breathing. The name Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) translates into “working the energy and programming the internal organs,” where Chi means energy and Nei Tsang means viscera or internal organs. CNT works in four main ways: detoxifying, restructuring & strengthening, balancing emotions, and bringing self-awareness. It helps detoxify the body by increasing elimination, stimulating the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and strengthening the immune system. CNT stimulates the internal organs, thereby aiding correcting postural problems that arise from imbalances in the viscera. It helps strengthen the body by facilitating the release of deep-rooted tensions and restoring vitality to the entire body.
The power of Chi Nei Tsang lies in working from the center of the body towards the outside by focusing on the abdomen and navel area. The abdomen is the very center of the human body, the place where breath and movement originate, and the center for metabolic processes such as digestion, detoxification, and energy processing. In Chinese Medicine and martial arts, this area is known as the lower dantien, in Japanese it is called hara, and is believed to be the body’s center of energy and the powerhouse where vital energy originates.
Chi Nei Tsang can therefore be an amazing treatment for many other things besides digestive disorders, such as fertility prep, chronic fatigue, emotional processing and support, or even chronic back pain.
